OR and Sterile Processing Renovation/Expansion
SES worked with Valley View Hospital (VVH) to expand their Sterile Processing Department. As the project progressed VVH determined that it was necessary to make the proposed SPD larger and add a new OR. The finished project is about 8,800 SF with a large new Sterile Processing Department (SPD), Operating Room (OR), Lab, Storage, and support spaces.
SES designed new infrastructure to serve the new OR and SPD which included numerous new systems and equipment such as: an AHU; exhaust fan system; a Reverse Osmosis water purification system; an instrument air compressor system; chilled water; heating water; emergency power; and normal power distribution.
Survey of existing systems was key to understanding impacts and identifying any existing deficiencies to work around. Surveys were conducted in the office areas of the expansion as well as during off-hours in the Operating Suite. Because the project included renovated spaces around the existing active 4 OR’s and SPD, it was critical to coordinate and minimize disruption to this department along with minimizing infection control risks.
