SES is providing Project Management and Engineering for this EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades Design project.
The design includes electrical upgrades, assessment of new and existing upgrades to HVAC systems; reconfiguration, expansion, and renovation of existing space; upgrade fiber infrastructure backbone campus-wide within buildings and between buildings, installation of new data outlets (negotiating and identifying high density areas with end users including Vanderbilt), patch panels, upgrade to CAT 6A cables, and installation of redundant, diversified path to the Main Computer Room for WAN.
The Team is following the VA Infrastructure Standard for Telecommunications Spaces v3.1 and OEHRM Site Infrastructure, End User Device Requirements v2.0 and Design Alerts. In cases where existing conditions led to exceptions and variances, detailed analysis with pros and cons was provided and discussed with the VA Leadership Team to make an informed decision.
After vetting 8 potential sites for the new Main Computer Room, the lower rooftop of the Main Campus Building was selected. Collaborating with the VA, DCIE, and HEFP, the team designed the new room, securing approvals for its size, layout, and equipment placement. The structure includes separate storage, mechanical, and electrical rooms to provide comprehensive support.
