SES provided MEP Engineering Design Services for the new VA Lincoln CBOC. The 2-story facility is comprised of Outpatient Clinical Spaces and was designed as a core and shell with tenant improvements. The 1st Level includes a large patient lobby/entrance, pharmacy and café, as well as 3 PACTs (Patient Aligned Care Teams). The PACT services include general medicine, mental health, procedure rooms, pathology, and labs. The 2nd Level includes additional patient waiting/vending, mental health, eye clinic, physical therapy, dental/exam rooms, and auditory.
SES worked with the VA, Developer, Architect, and the Contractor’s team during the construction document phase to provide a design that not only complied with the Veteran Affairs requirements, but also included an analysis of first cost, operating cost, and maintenance costs to provide the most cost-effective solution. Design services included an energy analysis using energy modeling software to validate the requested Green Globes certification. In addition to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection services, SES also provided the low voltage design services for all communications and alarm systems. While this facility is on the same property as the VA Medical Center, the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems are standalone and separate from the utilities on the main campus.
