Renovation and build out of this existing facility located on the UC Health Anshutz campus included meeting space, office area, consultation, lobby, procedure rooms and exam rooms. As one of the largest eye care centers in the region, it was imperative to maintain building operations during construction. Significant build out was scheduled around and over occupied spaces including over the OR space. Multiple coordination and investigations were initiated with the entire team to minimize any disruption to these critical spaces. This went as far as examining the way the contracting team enters the building and accesses the spaces. For example, additional costs were incurred to install a hoist on the outside of the building to access the 3rd and 4th floor construction areas to not interrupt normal building operations
In addition to the renovation, a top-down review of MEP infrastructure for the building was performed with UCH facilities and the UCH PM. SES worked with UCH to identify which items/recommendations were of the highest priority and coordinated with the contracting team to estimate construction cost for future fiscal year replacement budgets.
One area of specialized design consideration was the Innovation Office which incorporated high-grade lighting fixtures, integrated low voltage systems, and an overall design approach that created a collaborative environment. In addition, SES provided comprehensive construction administration services, working collaboratively with the construction team and UCH.
