Shenandoah Medical Center Cancer Center

The goal of this project was to enhance the medical center’s cancer care facilities and level of care. The design included a private entrance and registration area for oncology patients, an open-concept infusion therapy department, additional exam rooms and offices, and an oncology specific rehabilitation area for physical, occupational, and speech therapy treatment.

In addition, the design team accommodated the installation of a new linear accelerator and vault for treatment. With a total area of 11,100 SF and a budget of $9.5 million, the project also introduced new amenities such as a retail pharmacy, reception area, and dressing rooms.

This expansion not only provides larger and more comfortable accommodations for patients but also enhances workspaces for providers and staff to deliver improved care to patients and their families. The project required new infrastructure such as enhanced cooling and heating capacity, new patient space air handling, and dedicated modality cooling systems. Airborne infectious isolation space was added along with a protective environment treatment room for immuno-compromised patients.

SES provided full-service MEP design services, including fire protection, low voltage, lighting and medical gas.
