Methodist Hospital 4th and 5th Floor Remodel

The goal of this 17,000 SF transformation to the 4th and 5th floors of the north tower was to enhance the patient experience and improve the quality of care. The project involved a comprehensive remodel introducing 18 intermediate care patient rooms and 24 medical/surgical patient rooms across both floors. Support spaces include equipment storage, supply rooms, nurse stations, nourishment rooms, medication rooms, offices, and EVS rooms.

During the initial stages of the project, the SES Team conducted fieldwork, including mapping existing utilities within an occupied NICU, requiring careful coordination with the hospital. As construction progressed, ongoing coordination efforts were crucial, particularly in phasing the work within the ceiling space of the floor below to minimize disruption to hospital operations. Given the constrained floor-to-floor height of 12 feet, routing utilities required extensive communication and coordination throughout both the design and construction phases. In addition, planning for future renovations on the above floors was essential to the overall project coordination.

Constant communication, detailed organization and effective coordination were key in the seamless execution of this project. The expanded bed capacity allows the hospital to serve more patients and represents a commitment to enhancing healthcare services and creating a healing environment for patients and their families.
