Trinity Health East and West Campuses

Trinity Health System built an addition to Trinity Medical Center West to change the way health care is delivered by adding technological advances, creating an all-private-room hospital and consolidating services at the West campus. The consolidation of services meant patients no longer needed to be transferred between Trinity Medical Center East and West, which improves patient care and provides patients with a more comfortable environment while also providing a better experience for staff and visitors.

SES spent a significant amount of time onsite evaluating the countless utility and infrastructure tie-in locations to facilitate phasing for the project. Additionally, this project was performed on a continuous value management delivery platform where regular team meetings included engineering systems presentation and updates along with life cycle cost impacts. This resulted in the Owner Project Management team along with the local facilities team making informed decisions that dramatically impacted budgeting and ultimately led to a significant reduction in project cost over preliminary estimates.

SES’s overall MEP design accommodated for a new stand along chilled water plan to serve the West Tower addition, new heating hot water plant with condensing boilers, new emergency generators, and new medical gas piping infrastructure. SES also assisted the Owner in identifying potential PACE (Ohio Energy Program) energy efficiency upgrade opportunity within the existing hospital. In addition the SES commissioning team provided full commissioning services to ensure functionality and reliable system operations.

The addition was completed in 3 phases for construction and renovations to the existing hospital spaces.
