CHI/CommonSpirit Health
Creighton University Outpatient Center

SES was independently selected as the engineering team to assist CHI Health with their showcase facility in downtown Omaha. Designed as a potential Phase I of a free-standing, full-service hospital, the facility houses a fully functioning 24-hour emergency department complete with trauma, fast track and radiology. It also includes academic functions, clinic, pharmacy, physical therapy/occupational therapy, laboratory and several clinic pods. Part of SES’ scope included creating a dramatic exterior lighting concept that not only complimented the exterior, but also re-introduced the CHI Health Brand in downtown Omaha, and provided safety to patients and staff.

Due to the location and logistics of the project, CHI Health wanted small, local, disadvantaged companies to contribute to the construction. SES worked with the General Contractor to design infrastructure systems that meet the Owner’s expectations, were optimized in terms of energy use, and could be assembled and installed by local small business Contractors. Additionally, due to tight budget constraints and significant project cost escalation, SES consistently performed budget checks and provided best value design practices.
