Project Description

Lauritzen Outpatient Center & Fritch Surgery Center is a new state-of-the-art comprehensive surgical outpatient facility on the main Nebraska Medicine campus in Omaha. The facility houses orthopedics, outpatient radiology, outpatient surgery, advanced microscopic eye surgery, ENT Center of Excellence, oral facial surgical labs and procedure spaces, conference and collaborative learning spaces, and an orthopedic prosthetic research development and fabrication facility.

Unique aspects of this project were the complexities of accommodating multiple building occupants and managing the coordination details with acoustic and vibration sub-consultants to define the measures for vibration dampening and equipment support throughout the facility. The project was delivered in an integrated, guaranteed-maximum price model, where the lower levels were under construction long before the final construction documents were completed. SES utilized 3D software (Building Information Management or BIM) to coordinate the contracting team and seamlessly deliver the project in four distinct packages that were integrated into the construction schedule.
