Project Description

CHI Health St. Mary’s Hospital is a replacement hospital located in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The facility’s services include diagnostics, emergency medicine, surgical and inpatient care, and a complete food service entity providing for the hospital and local community’s needs. Systems commissioned include hot water, chilled water, ventilation, interior lighting, exterior lighting, emergency systems and uninterruptible power supply. Project specific testing was conducted on the systems with over 100 issues identified during construction and resolved prior to occupancy. Proactive communication between members of the commissioning team throughout the design, construction and occupancy phases of the project fostered successful systems’ outcomes.

SES also provided design services for the development of a ground-based energy system (geothermal) for the facility. The closed-loop well system transfers heat to and from the building to the green space on the site, improving the energy efficiency of the overall system and lowering the impact to the environment of the facility and surrounding community.
