Beatrice Community Hospital was a replacement facility on a 45-acre greenfield site. The new hospital includes a medical surgery patient care unit, emergency department, radiology, operating rooms, central sterile, materials management, physical therapy, kitchen, and a central utilities plant.
Unique challenges critical to the success of the project were the managing of expectations and the relationship presence of the facility to the community. Much of the physical presence of the facility was established through building lighting. SES used detailed design phase computer-generated renderings to illustrate, refine and finalize the lighting package. The Architect and Owner were able to see exactly how the facility interior and exterior would be presented both in daylight and night-time conditions.
