Building Commissioning Association (BCxA): 20 Under 40 Program Award Recipient, Kenny Reed, PE, CCP, CEM, LEED AP BD+C
The BCxA launched the program to, “honor those young professionals who execute projects in accordance with best practices, show leadership, are innovative, and who work towards the goal of making commissioning business as usual.” Candidates were nominated by colleagues and evaluated by BCxA Awards Committee.
“Three things stood out among all our winners this year,” stated Liz Fischer, Executive Director, BCxA. “First was their dedication to helping the owners and the passion behind their approach. Second was how this group embraced new technology and improved on its usefulness in commissioning. And third, their dedication to teaching not only those coming into the profession but all the stakeholders in the built environment. Bravo!”
Kenny, Specialized Engineering Solutions’ Director of Commissioning, is a vehement advocate for developing strategies that leverage technology and facility operations data to improve building system performance. His work includes new and existing facilities serving complex hospitals, universities, and government facilities. Kenny is an advocate for educating owners and other stakeholders on enhancing project performance through commissioning and optimizing facility performance.
“It’s the intangibles he brings to the effort,” remarked a colleague. “His overall attitude and demeaner make him easy to work with and his attention to detail, persistence, and care to get it right creates trust among the stakeholders — and especially the owner.”
Specialized Engineering Solutions CEO Eric Sherman stated, “Kenny’s hard work and dedication to the industry is an example of how our talented team of professionals is moving the industry forward.”
Recent work includes projects for the University of Nebraska, VA Ambulatory Care Center, Bryan Health, and Children’s Hospital Hubbard Center for Children.
Active with the BCxA, Kenny serves on the Professional Development Committee and currently serves as the President of the BCxA’s Central Chapter.
Congratulations to Kenny for this career achievement!
