SES was founded upon the recognition of a significant gap in engineering expertise tailored to hospitals and healing environments. While working at an engineering firm where healthcare projects were just a fraction of their workload, Eric Sherman and Tracy Hauser personally witnessed the distinctive challenges and requirements of healthcare facilities compared to other types of buildings. This firsthand experience made them realize that the healthcare sector urgently needed specialized engineers dedicated to meeting its intricate demands, especially those associated with operating 24/7. Consequently, Specialized Engineering Solutions (SES) was established.

In less then 20 years, SES has progressed into a multi-office, national engineering design and commissioning firm with projects and personnel located across the United States.
